ZOMBIE ZOMBIE
starring G.I.Joe

Ok, this video is probably one of the most awesome things I've seen in a long time. It's basically a recreation of John Carpenter's classic horror film The Thing, but it's made using fucking G.I. Joes!

Banksy Unmasked?

There's a few things I always wished I had gotten into when I was younger and graffiti is one of them. Sadly now it's a bit late for me mostly because I don't think I could out run the cops any more and prime graffiti time is way past my bedtime. So maybe that's why I really like the work of Graffiti Artist Banksy. Until recently no one except maybe a few close friends knew who Banksy was. Some people even think that it's a collective of graffiti artists and not one person. Well the other day in a London paper there was an article purporting to know who Banksy is and even printed a photo of him. Whether or not the article is true and the guy featured really is Banksy I hope it doesn't hinder his Graffiti art in any way.

Music Videos on the Cheap.

Here's a little something to hold you over until I have the time to upload the last few days of daily photos on here.

This video is pretty cool, not much a fan of the song but the video itself is extremely creative considering all they used to make it was construction paper, a photocopier, an exacto knife, a digital camera and a lot and I mean alot of free time. It just goes to show you that you don't need a big budget or lots of fancy equipment to make some thing creative.

It was directed by Double Triple and Ryan Junell.
The band is Spoon.
The song is You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb.

Watch the video.
Check out behind the scene photos of how it was done.

You can also check out a higher quality version @ huoratron.com. But be warned the video just automatically starts playing and you can't stop it. So that might not be a good idea if your at work or if your newborn baby is trying to sleep right next to you. If you like the music you can also go check out their MySpace page

Blog ISO50

So it's been awhile since I posted a written non-daily photo blog and I thought it was about time that I remedy that. So I thought I'd let all two of you in on a blog that I've come to make it a habit of checking out daily and wasting some time with. The blog is called ISO50, The Visual Work of Scott Hansen. This blog was suggested by one of my professors at school and as you might of guessed, it's run by this guy Scott Hansen who is kind of a jack of all trades creative person. You know the type, the individual that can do just about everything extremely well and makes you sick with jealousy about it. He does photography, graphic design and music. Although he does his music under a different moniker and is featured on another site called; Tychomusic. His blog features lots of his photography and his design work which has a minimalist retro feel to it. He also features alot of other designer's work on his blog, every thing from print design, package design to industrial design, that he enjoys. On top of all of that he also likes to include music on his blog that he enjoys listening to. So if your a designer, photographer or musician there always a little bit of something that you will find interesting on his blog.

For those of you that don't know ISO 50 refers to a film speed.

365 Days

I had meant to post this blog a few weeks ago but I've been too busy to do anything. Today I had a bit of time so I figured better late than never. I just wanted to give a shout out and some props to my good friend Meany-Quin over at Threesixty5 for completing his first year of his self-portrait project. Before any one says it yes he does know that it's not an original idea and many people before him have done similar projects. He even has a few links to other people who have done self-portrait projects. The most notable of them are Noah K Everyday and c71123. In fact, if you go onto YouTube and search videos by typing self-portrait everyday or some combination of those words. You'll get a whole list of similar projects. But that shouldn't take away from Meany-Quinn's dedication of completing his first year(I wouldn't of lasted that long) of what hopefully will be a long self-portrait project. Now like I said earlier go give him some props!

Nekkid With a Camera

This is an interesting blog that I happened to stumble upon earlier today. It's by Samantha Wolov, who is a photographer who as she says in her own words, takes pictures of people having sex and calls it art. Now don't get the wrong idea here, this isn't a blog filled with smutty hard core sex images, albeit alot of the stuff isn't safe for work place viewing. On her blog she shows some of the pictures she takes and she also discusses the fine line between fine art nude photography and porn that she constantly straddles(pun not intended).

Fujiya & Miyagi's Ankle Injury

Ok this video is simply mind boggling and the hook. I can't even begin to fathom how long it took them to do this stop motion video using dice and dominoes. The band/artist is Fujiya & Miyagi, an electronica alternative band(never heard of them before), the song is called Ankle Injury and it was directed by Wade Shotter at Factory Films.

Anoush Abrar & Aimee Hoving

Anoush Abrar & Aimee Hoving are a photography team who joined forces to start taking pictures together sometime after finishing art school in 2004. Their work can be seen in various museums, galleries and fashion magazines. I never really understood photography teams. A photographer is generally a control freak and to have to give up part that control and give it to another photographer must be a scary yet freeing thing to a photographer. I certainly don't think I could do it. They make it work though and come up with some interesting photographs. Although they do do commissioned fashion photographs, which are good in there own right. I would however recommend checking out their personal work. There are some pretty interesting themes going on in their personal work from the status of women as symbols to the influence of MTV on the young.

New Photography Rules for NYC?

If your involved in photography you might want to check this out:

The NYC Mayor's Office of Film , Theater and Broadcasting are considering some new rules in regards to photography and filming in the city. As it is and has been for some time you do already need a permit for any photography and film shoots, in which a tripod/camera stands, lighting and rigging equipment will be used. What the Mayor's Office of Film , Theater and Broadcasting are trying to do is to formalize the existing policies in order to cope with large increase and often chaotic aspect of filming/photographic work taking place in NYC. The problem that alot of people are having in regards to these new rules however is with the vagueness of the way the rules are written.

The new rules that are being consider however are stating that any group of two or more people who want to use a camera in a single public location for more than a half hour need to get a city permit and insurance. The same requirements would apply to any group of five or more people who plan to use a tripod in a public location for more than 10 minutes, which includes the time it takes to set up the equipment. These new rules could in effect with the way they are currently worded, depending on whether a police officer or not wanted to enforce it, pertain to tourists, amateur photographers or some people just filming the next YouTube hit. So when a family of 4, visiting NYC for the first time stop in Times Square or Rockefeller Center to snap a few pictures could be in violation of the new rules.

You can read more about it here in a NY Times article and also on the NYCLU's web site.

There is also a petition you can sign if your against these new rules.

Alec Soth - Blog

If you've heard of Alec Soth(ryhmes with both) at all it probably has to do with the fact that your interested in photography. Alec seemed to burst onto the photography scene with the publication of his book Sleeping by the Mississippi and has since gone on to publish a couple more photography books. The other day I went to go check out his website and while there I noticed that he also had a blog. Well once at his blog and after reading a few posts I was hooked. His blog is a great mix of, well as he puts it photographica, miscellanea, etcetera. If your interested in photography, film, art and philosophy then I highly recommend checking out his blog. If your not interested in any of that stuff well maybe you should check out his blog any way, you never know you just might like it.

Time Wasting Video of the Week: Dogs Day Out

Ok, I know it's a little early in the week for a Time Wasting Video, but I just couldn't wait to post this strangely surreal video. This video features two dogs just hanging out in a park, doing what dogs do, frolicking, sliding down slides and engaging in some heavy petting.

You can also watch it here and see more of these Dogs gone wild. I think the best one is where they try to go into the Tate Modern dressed as dogs.
